“The Earth is the Lord’s” by The Rev. Kaji Douša

Just the other day I was talking to The Reverend Stephen Ray, who is president of Chicago Theological Seminary, and something that Dr. Ray reminded me of was that this Earth, and this planet, is at such a point of crisis that our children – the children that we have birthed – the children of this Earth are faced with the responsibility of determining whether or not the human species will continue to live. We are at a point of extinction, potentially. And that “potentially” as people of faith is our strongest call, because as we learn from the 24th Psalm, the Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. This Earth is God’s but we’re letting it burn. It’s our responsibility not to place so much on our children, to make personal choices to keep this Earth and its people alive. That’s the work of people of faith. Amen
