What Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 [“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…”] does for us is not only remind us of the “Seasons” in our lives – the ones that are boldly named and distinct – but this text also calls us to remember the “Penumbra” between the seasons – the work that goes into moving forward every day, the courage it takes to move from the shadows and into the light, even if the movement is imperceivable to anyone but you and God.
