“Embracing Blackness” by The Rev. Kaji Douša
“Embracing Blackness” by The Rev. Kaji Douša
The scriptures are filled with so much gorgeous imagery about light, and, as Jesus was the “light of the world,” we often think about following that light, which is good. But one thing I would love for us to consider too, is embracing the blackness and the darkness. The story of creation is all about how there’s a rhythm to things: there was evening, there was morning, and sometimes that evening has such nutritive value. Don’t feel that you have to flick to the light, you are not a moth to a flame. Follow the light but embrace the blackness too, because that is a space where God can give you such healing, such growth, and such love. Amen
