Question: “Why are you so afraid?” (Mark 4:40)
The wind is howling. The waves are rising. Does Jesus panic? No. Instead, he asks:
“Why are you so afraid?”
This is a question of trust.
This Week’s Study Guide
Scripture: Mark 4:35–41
(Imagine yourself in the boat. Hear the storm. Feel the fear.)
Reflection:
Jesus is in the boat, but the storm still comes.
That’s real life.
But His question cuts deeper than the waves: Why are you so afraid?
Maybe not because you shouldn’t be—but because fear doesn’t get the final word.
Questions for Reflection or Small Group:
- What fear is taking up too much space in your heart right now?
- Where do you feel like God is “sleeping” while you’re struggling?
- How might faith call you to respond differently?
Spiritual Practice for the Weekend:
When fear shows up, try saying aloud:
“Peace, be still.”
Say it as many times as you need. Let it become your breath prayer this weekend.
