Culmination Week – “Be Doers of the Word”
Scripture: James 1:22-25
This Week’s Study Guide
Scripture: James 1:22–25
(Read it as a mirror. Notice what reflects back.)
22 Now be doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. 23 For if any are hearers of the word and not doers, they are like a person who looks at their face in a mirror. 24 They recognize themselves and, departing, immediately forget what they were like. 25 But those who look deeply into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and who persevere, not being hearers who forget rather doers who act, they will be blessed in their doing.
Reflection:
It’s easy to hear a powerful word. It’s harder to let it change you.
James doesn’t say knowledge is enough. He says doing is where transformation begins.
What you do next? That’s your real answer to Jesus’ questions.
Questions for Reflection or Small Group:
- Which of Jesus’ questions from this series is still living in you?
- What’s one concrete way you’re being called to do the word?
- What support do you need from us, (hopefully) your church community to live that out?
Spiritual Practice for the Weekend:
Write down one action step you’ll take this week as a response to Jesus.
Keep it somewhere you’ll see it: your mirror, your altar, your calendar.
Then take the step. Don’t wait. Just begin.
