ESTELLA PATE
October 27 1945  – October 22, 2022

Beloved Church,

It is with great sadness that I write the news of our dear Estella Pate’s death, early Saturday morning. As of now, we do not have an official cause to share, but we do know that she had suffered a number of health concerns in recent years.

Estella was a delightful, dedicated member of the Park’s community. She has served in every leadership capacity we have – including bringing the church through some of its most complex and difficult moments as Moderator.  She was an active leader in the Music ministry, including her brilliant direction of the Recorder Consort. To her last day, she was an Elder and a member of our Ministry Council. She gave so much of herself to the organizations she served, including and especially here. It’s hard to even begin to convey just how much we, her church family, will miss Estella.

A very dedicated group of Estella’s friends and fellow church members has been caring for her in this last season of her life. As we work together to coordinate Estella’s final arrangements, we will have more to share about service dates to inter her cremains in our columbarium.

I close this note with a link to a beautiful recording of Estella leading the Recorder Consort here in 2014. They are playing an arrangement of Martin Luther’s Vater unser im Himmelreich, which translates to “Our Father in Heaven”. What a fitting benediction to her incredible life: thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.

May light perpetual shine. And may beloved Estella rest in peace.

Amen

Pax Christi,
Pastor Kaji
