“Jesus would perform miracles, and save the world from its sins, teach good lessons and shepherd his people, but not without the community that conspired to protect, defend and support his birth in this world. That is an example of beloved community, a world void of oppression, discrimination, violence and bigotry that is fueled instead by friendship, sibling-hood, goodwill, and deep human connection, that asks us not to just be more like Jesus, but to more like Jesus’ people. Let each of us be more like Mary.”
