“What could it mean to know that Jesus weeps when you weep? What could it mean that God has such infinite compassion that Jesus would face every form of danger to companion us in our pain? Jesus didn’t come back because Lazarus needed to be raised, I believe. Jesus made the dangerous trip to Bethany because he had to be close to his weeping friends, with whom he wept.”
