A Message from Pastor Kaji

October 10th,2024 Categories: Weekly Letter

Dear Church:What a beautiful homecoming celebration we had! Thank you too everyone who made this possible, including our volunteers and staff. From Stephanie Wilson‘s coordination to David Sookai‘s set up and clean up after a major flood at the church, it was quite the weekend! I was also delighted and honored to celebrate my eighth anniversary with the church. It was a truly lovely Sunday.

Looking ahead to this week, our text from Ephesians couldn’t come at a better time. I read it today in the context of making the mistake of reading the comments on various people’s Hurricane Milton posts. It is clear to me that there’s a deficit of understanding of how to be kind to one another. As you prepare for this coming Sunday’s worship, I invite you to consider where you observe a kindness deficit in your own life. Where could you show more kindness? Where could others show you the same?

I can’t wait to see you in church.

Pax Christi,

Pastor Kaji

SCRIPTURE
Ephesians 4:25–32 (Year B, p. 286):

25 Therefore putting away lying, speak the truth, each to their neighbors, for we are parts of one another. 26 Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger. 27 Make no opportunity for the devil. 28 Thieves must no longer thieve but rather, labor and work with their own hands, honestly, in order to have something to share with the needy. 29 All foul speech—let none come out of your mouths, rather only what is good for building up as there is need in order that grace be given to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 All bitterness and wrath and anger and shouting and slander shall be taken away from you, together with all malice. 32 Now, be to one another: kind, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you all [or us].
