On Sunday 9/16/18, the Park Sunday school children will read Exodus 20: 8-11, which is the commandment to keep the Sabbath. We will talk about what it means, for us, to keep Sabbath, and think about why God commanded people to have a day of rest. We will also think about what “rest,” in this sense, can include, since it’s not just about sleeping! We will emphasize the idea that Sabbath is meant to bring us joy and inner peace; it’s not a bunch of arbitrary rules, intended to punish us.

Following this discussion, we will make “To-Do” lists of things we can do to feel close to God on our Sabbath, as well as “Don’t-Do” lists, of things that would not make us feel peaceful, restful, and close to God, if we did them on the Sabbath.
