Update from Rev. Francesca Fortunato, Children and Youth Ministry Leader

On Sunday June 24th – Pride Sunday – The Park Sunday School children read 2 Corinthians. We discussed Paul’s statements about the Church needing all kinds of people, and what “all kinds” means for us, as Christians today.  I asked the children to think about the many ways that people can be different from one another (they came up with a pretty long list) and how our diversity, as humans, blesses us and our community. All of this served as a segue into discussion of the reasons why we have Pride celebrations and marches, and the symbolism of the rainbow.

For their creative responses, the children made rainbow drawings and used sparkly beads to make necklaces and bracelets in all of the wonderful colors!

Since this was our last Sunday of the program year, I wished the children a happy Summer, and assured them that I would be back with them in September, and that their teachers, Ms. Glenda and Ms. Laura, would, too.

Blessings and well-wishes to all in the Park Avenue Christian Church community!
