Children and Youth Ministry Update from The Rev. Francesca Fortunato

December 4th,2020 Categories: Latest News

Dear Park People,

On Sunday November 29th, the first Sunday in Advent, the Park Sunday school children read, in the Mystic Bible, about the angel’s announcement to Mary, that she would be the mother of Jesus. The angel said, “Don’t be afraid,” but Mary was a little bit afraid anyway. Still, she said yes, because her faith in God was stronger than her fear.

We talked about fear, faith, and the fact that some happily exciting things can also be scary. We can pray when we’re scared, when we’re happy, and when we’re feeling some of both. The children also just wanted to think and talk about babies; people in their lives who had recently given birth, or were about to, and what it might be like for them to be parents, some day.

Next Sunday, December 6th, Mary’s story will continue with the Mystic Bible’s take on the Magnificat. Mary says, to her self, “SING, my soul! Sing a song about this baby!” We will talk about the things that make our own soul’s sing, as we await the celebration of Jesus’ birth. And we’ll do some singing!

Blessings and well wishes as always,
Rev. Francesca Fortunato: Children’s Minister
