Children and Youth Ministry Update from The Rev. Francesca Fortunato

June 12th,2020 Categories: Latest News

Dear Park People,
On Sunday June 7th, the Park  Sunday school children read Acts 5, in which the apostles are imprisoned for teaching people about Jesus (and then freed from prison by an angel.) We talked about why it was so important to the first followers of Jesus, to share the Good News with others, and why it continues to be important for the disciples of this time. I asked the children to talk about some of the Jesus messages that they considered important to share. Those included, “love everyone,” “help people,” “share food,” and “make peace.”

We also completed our collaborative verses for the song, “Spirit Says Do,” and had fun singing it together.

On Sunday the 14th, we will continue reading the Book of Acts (chapter 10) in which Peter preaches that the Good News is not only for a certain group of people, but for all of humanity. This will give us a segue to begin talking about Pride Month (when we emphasize celebrating our many different identities, and ways of loving.) Because it’s summer, as well as Pride Month, for our creative response activity, we’ll make rainbow fans. Staying cool, while spreading our positive message. Win-win!

May all of us know peace, rejoice in love, and be united in a spirit of mutual admiration!

Blessed Pride, with, as always, abundant well-wishes!
