Children and Youth Ministry Update from The Rev. Francesca Fortunato

October 4th,2019 Categories: Latest News
Dear Park People,
In September, the Park Sunday school children started their new program year with great festivity (and many balloons) on Homecoming Sunday. They were very happy to be together again. (One of the great joys, for me, as Children’s Minister, is witnessing the wonderful friendships that develop in this community.)

Looking ahead to later in the Fall, we are planning for more children’s participation in worship services, and special children’s ministry events. You can look forward to hearing child Lectors read scripture, and to seeing/hearing children in processions, during multi-generational parts of the services. We are also beginning to plan for another Thanksgiving-and-Receiving Swap Meet Party (date to-be-announced) since last year’s was so much fun!

‘Though the Fellowship Hall is not our permanent children’s ministry area, we do expect to be there for the entirety of this program year, and are beginning to settle in. Except to see more of the Sunday school furniture and supplies, in the far left corner of the room, as the teachers and I get our equipment set up and arranged, with help from the children. We are all really liking this space!

In October, the children’s ministry community will focus on giving. Giving material generosity, giving of our time and energy, and giving thanks (to God, and to other people). Our activities will include visual art, creative writing, and dramatic play, on these related themes.

September’s themes revolved around “communicating in community,” and our activities included various, cooperative games, to foster teamwork, friendship, and mutual admiration. The children were great at encouraging and inspiring each other, and having a good time with all of it.

May all of us, in every generation, reap bountiful harvests of faith, hope, and love, in this beautiful season.

Blessings and well wishes as ever,
Rev. Francesca Fortunato: Children’s Minister
