Children and Youth Ministry Update from The Rev. Francesca Fortunato
On Sunday May 5th, the Park Sunday school children read Revelation 7:1-8. Discussion focused on the angel’s message about “doing no harm to the earth or the sea.” We reflected on God’s call to us, as people of faith, to be environmentalists, and to practice good stewardship of the earth’s resources. For their creative response, the children made a beautiful, collaborative poster, showing various ways of caring for the planet.
On Sunday May 12th, the reading will be John 21:9-14. We will discuss (in the context of Jesus feeding his friends) the ways that God sustains our bodies and provides for our physical needs. This will segue to the subject of saying Grace at meals. In creative response, the children will write their own meal-time prayers, and, together, we will come up with a Sunday school Grace, to say before we eat our snack together.
Since May 12th is also Mother’s Day, the children will also have an “extra-curricular” activity option, of making Mother’s Day cards for the mothers and caregivers in their lives, using supplies provided by Sunday school teacher, Ms. Laura.
Blessings and well-wishes, to the children and adults of the Park community, as ever!
