Children and Youth Ministry Update from Rev. Francesca Fortunato

On October 13th, the children had their first song-and-story time with our wonderful guest instructor, Paul Vasile, who has begun teaching them music and movement that they will perform during the Pageant/Cantata service on December 22nd. He will be coming back on November 24th, to continue that process. The children had a very good time during their first workshop with Paul, and are looking forward to his return.
Meanwhile, we are preparing for this year’s Thanksgiving and Receiving Swap Meet Party, to be held on Sunday November 17th, after the service. Grownups take note; this is not exclusively for children and their adults. All members of the congregation, along with friends, neighbors, and extended family, are invited to join the children’s ministry community for an informal potluck lunch, followed by swapping, playing, and socializing. If you, or members of your household, have clothing, books, toys or games that you’re not using, I encourage you to bring them for our swap tables. It’s great fun (and environmentally friendly) to allow our old things to become new things for others!
I hope that all of you will have happy celebrations and observations of Halloween, All Saints, and All Souls days, in whatever cultural traditions you observe. Under the late Harvest Moon, there is much beautiful, spiritual mystery to experience, not only in church, but in our own homes and communities.
