Children and Youth Ministry Update by The Rev. Francesca Fortunato

Dear Park People,

The Children’s Ministry community had a wonderful time on November 17th, celebrating our second annual Thanksgiving and Receiving Swap Meet Party! During Sunday school time, we read Luke 9:10-17 (Feeding the Five Thousand) and discussed the ways that appreciating what we have makes us want to share with others, as the disciples did. The children’s creative response activity was to decorate and set up the Fellowship Hall for the swap meet party, by coloring and cutting out autumn leaves to post on the bulletin board, and helping our Sunday school teachers, Ms. Glenda and Ms. Laura, arrange the toys on the swap tables. The party, which immediately followed the worship service, was great fun for all of the children and adults involved, including a few first-time visitors to The Park.

On Sunday, November 24th, the children will have a second opportunity for song-and-story time with our former Interim Music Minister, Paul Vasile.  They will read Luke 2: 8-14 and talk about angels (what are they? why did they sing when Jesus was born?). Then Paul will teach them a song, with movement, about the angels rejoicing at the Nativity, which they will be singing as part of the Pageant/Cantata service on December 22nd. Paul’s last workshop with the children, on October 13th, was really exciting for them, and they have been eager to see him again. Children’s adults, please take note; this will be a special Sunday school day, and we hope for high attendance!

Blessings and well wishes as always,
Rev. Francesca Fortunato: Children’s Minister
