Membership at the Park
We have been looking for you!
No matter what your nuclear, extended or chosen family looks like; whatever your vocational path is, was or will be; and whether you are famous, infamous or anonymous, we are looking for you! We have a great community here on the Upper East Side, and we are looking for new friends to join us for thoughtful discussion, worship and service in formal and informal settings.
We utilize inspiring music in a variety of spiritual traditions in worship and events. We promote spiritual growth through lively, relevant worship and a strong, vital community.
We engage in social outreach through our Saturday Community Lunch program and other activities designed to connect with the community.
We live out of our belief that all are children of God. The Park strives to be among the most diverse, inclusive, and progressive congregations within a denomination that has embraced unity in diversity since its inception. We are open to and affirming of all people, whatever their gender, race, age, culture, ethnic background, sexual orientation, religious tradition, economic circumstance, family configuration or difference in ability.
We honor other holy histories and respect those who profess no faith or have chosen different paths to the sacred. We affirm the love of Christ in our lives and welcome everyone into this community, inviting all to share in its life and ministry.
In response to the grace which Christ has given to us, we glorify God, we commit ourselves to growth in the Spirit, and we rejoice in the worth, gifts and dignity of every person as a child of God.
How To Join
The slogan "No creed but Christ" has long indicated the Disciples emphasis on freedom of thought and self determination in all areas, including the religious. To become a member of this faith community, therefore, involves no elaborate creedal confession, no litmus test of "correct doctrine," but rather a simple confession of faith in God through Christ. On this basis we receive members by confession of faith, transfer of membership from another church (of any branch or denomination), or reaffirmation of faith. We are also joined in unity with the United Church of Christ.
We also offer an affiliate membership to anyone interested in pursuing a spiritual journey, but is not prepared to make a confession of faith. In short, one need not wait until the conclusion of one's spiritual journey to join a church, but is invited to walk alongside others who are also on the spiritual pilgrimage.
